It's one of those soups that screams comfort
food on a cold fall or
winter day.
We've had the occasional cold snap — and soup has been
on the menu pretty consistently since October — but I can't say I'm quite ready for the heavy, squashy, saucy comfort
food dishes that fill our
winter meals.
Eating big bowls of salad is something I'm known for, but in the
winter when all I want is hot
food, I prefer to have little helpings
on the side of warm dishes.
I know that complaining about the weather is hardly what you came to read about
on a
food blog, but my point is that last weekend I got caught in one of those depressing downward spirals of adult worries pertaining to jobs and money, and the dark, depressing
winter day outside wasn't making it any better.
I am looking forward to making lots of soups this
winter (thanks to santa who brought me a new
food mill & immersion blender;) This one is going
on the list!

What I'm trying to get at here is that I know a lot of
food bloggers buy
foods just because they look pretty and I'm always a bit disappointed when I see other people who live in northern climates loading up
on imported everything in the
winter.
