work — for fall /
winter skinny pants, boots & blazers, for spring / summer
dresses, cardigans & sandals / flats.

When I was
working in finance, I wore a lot of matching
dress - and - coat ensembles (and by coat, I mean one in the same fabric as the
dress so it can be worn indoors, not a heavy
winter one).
Keep in mind that this look only
works for coats out of lighter materials — a
winter coat will never ever gonna look like a
dress So this coat here is actually more a «summer coat» out of light cotton.
I'm into the whole idea of making a summery
dress work for
winter; I will say though, I think the
dress - over-pants look only
works well if the
dress goes past the knees.

work... while in summer we have enough in a

winter requires us to wear layers of clothing and it is more difficult to combine all of them well.

winter time sweater (I personally love this gray v - neck one) and layer it over your favorite spring skirt (mine obviously being this white skater skirt — I am slightly obsessed with skater skirts if you weren't aware:p) Personally, I feel that a v - neck sweater is flattering on just about everyone and can be
dressed up or down depending on the occasion — paired with a skater skirt (ideal for those who have #LegsForDays or those who just enjoy not wearing pants... aka M E!) LOL!
Knee high boots like yours are
work constantly out here with knee length
dresses and skirts in the summer, and blue jeans or leggings with a tunic top or shirtdress in the fall /
winter when it's a little cooler.

See, my
winter casual style is not much to write home about (I much prefer
dressing for summer weekends, or summer period), and I don't particularly enjoy getting creative with those clothes, unlike my
work wardrobe.

Winter I am
working on layering my
dresses to fully utilize my wardrobe and since it is slightly warmer today, I'm layering this shirt
dress sans tights.
With the
winters in Tennessee being so mild, I could get away with wearing
work appropriate
dresses during all seasons.

I must admit as I
work in a creative field where the
dress code is a lot more relaxed, I don't feel the pressures or restrictions of assembling chic
winter work clothes together.
My go to
work outfit is a great
dress and heels (layered over a turtleneck in the
winter).
I've said this before, but getting
dressed for
work this
winter has been a struggle.
Because of my weight loss, I was down to one easy long sleeved neutral
dress for the
winter that
worked in that category.
That's something I would wear to
work with pants or a skirt (or even layered under a
dress in the
winter).
I'd say that this time of year is probably the hardest for me to get
dressed for
work — I'm over my

So when Sarah told me that maxi
dresses don't
work in the
winter, I set out to prove her wrong.
