Some of the smaller elements including the indicator and
wiper stalks seem to the same as its predecessor, but they function just as well here too.
But something about those steering column attached paddle shifters that make that area busy looking — with the instrument / indicator /
wiper stalks just behind.
The dashboard switches, the gear lever, the steering wheel, light /
wiper stalks and foot pedals are easily reachable and can be operated without discomfort.
The indicator and
wiper stalks, for example, feel cheap and a bit nasty.
We liked the positioning of the indicator and
wiper stalks.
The instrument panel, steering wheel, turn and
wiper stalks are all but identical to those in the new Buick Regal · a much more expensive and upmarket car.
Indicator and
wiper stalks are absent, too, the functions moved to neat little buttons on the steering wheel.
The other weirdness is the gear selector, which I have never liked because it's where
the wiper stalk is supposed to be.

the wiper stalk, and wider LE - type tires for the DX trim (from 165 to 185 millimeters or 6.5 to 7.3 inches).
Easy enough once you get used to it, even if most of us would still prefer a dedicated
wiper stalk.
Build quality is solid, with some minor exceptions: a center console panel that felt a bit flimsy on our test car and a squeaky
wiper stalk (maybe it needed some greasing).
Not exact matches
With that and the good cruise controls on the wheel, the resulting single
stalk with only
wiper and highbeam duty is welcome... Moving the control for the rear
wiper / washer to the center console is brilliant as well.
There's a configurable TFT screen ahead of the driver, while the infotainment system is pure Mercedes (as is the single
stalk controller for the indicators,
wipers and main beam).
Control
stalks have gone — Lamborghini has taken a leaf from Ferrari's book and moved controls for the indicators and
wipers onto the face of the steering wheel, allowing extra-large gearchange paddles.
The
stalk itself is not the problem - pushing it down normally activates both the
wipers and the washers.
I think the
stalk is fine since the
wipers go off but I haven't looked at the wiring diagram yet - may be something odd going on there
We also found that the van's ergonomic design was amazingly intuitive, like the Sedona's easy - to - use central touchscreen, or pop - up displays whenever the driver used the
wiper or light
stalks.
It seems that most recent cars have the
wiper controls on a
stalk on the right side of the steering column.
You'd think so, but even after I knew just how to pull and twist the
stalk, I still activated the rear
wiper more often than the front ones.
Controls for the
wipers and cruise control are mounted on
stalks on the steering wheel.
Ford relocated the
wiper switch from the left hand side (as with the Five Hundred) to the turn signal
stalk on the right hand side, as has been the design of every Taurus since its 1986 introduction.
The last bastion of subpar quality touch points seems to be a very chintzy blinker /
wiper control
stalk.
You'll also discover subtle changes to the position and functionality of certain gauges and switches, including the fuel gauge, the control
stalks for the windshield
wiper and turn signals, the on / off control for the available head - up display, and the switch for vehicle driving mode.
Lights,
wipers and the cruise control, as well as the car's trip computer, are operated by these
stalks.
The windshield
wiper control
stalk is designed to allow you to activate a number of settings, all of which we'll outline below.
The cabins share a lot in terms of content: the door panel switches, as well as cruise and
wiper / turn signal
stalks, plus climate control buttons and the smart key.
The
wipers, mounted on the opposite side of the steering column from the turn signal
stalk, kept working.
The interior boasted cloth and vinyl bench seats, with
stalks for wash /
wiper and headlamps.
Controls for the
wipers and lights are on
stalks on the steering column.
Other features included rack - and - pinion steering, front disc brakes, front stabilizer bar, 13 - inch tires, tricolor taillights, front bucket seats, an onboard diagnostic system, extensive acoustic insulation, a single steering column - mounted
stalk (integrating controls for signal indicators,
wipers, and windshield washers) and optional swing - out rear quarter windows.
Instruments are clear and easy to read and the controls are placed where they should be (i.e. indicator
stalk on the right,
wipers on the left).
Still, the layout will be familiar to any Mercedes owner, as it features the same buttons, switches and single
stalk control for the
wipers, lights and indicators that you'll find across the rest of the range.
Switches for the headlights and the horn are on a
stalk on the left of the steering column;
wiper controls on a
stalk on the right.
Switches for the lights and
wipers, on the
stalks, were a cinch to operate.
In its effort to innovate, Chrysler integrates the windshield
wipers and turn signals into a single
stalk on the left side.
In behind the steering wheel are a profusion of
stalks and paddles for indicators,
wipers, cruise control and gearchange.
That said, it's not easy initially to locate some operations, such as equalising the BOSE sound, and the left - side, single -
stalk indicator / front - rear windscreen
wipers / high - beam operation is not the world's easiest to use.
Switchgear for the infotainment system was clustered chiefly in the centre fascia, rather than in the dash or the ends of the
wiper / indicator
stalks.
Plymouth engineers could simplify the cruise control switch, which is located on the righthand
stalk that controls the windshield
wiper and washer.
Light switches are in a
stalk on the left side of the steering column, and washer -
wiper switches are in a
stalk on the right side.
Instead, Toyota has placed five levers on the steering column: shift lever with an overdrive button; front and rear
wiper / washer controls; cruise control; combination turn signals - and - light
stalk; and a tilt wheel lever.
One
stalk on the column controls the windshield
wipers, the other
stalk operates the lights and turn signals.
I remember when they put the radio and cruise controls on the steering wheel and the lights and
wipers on the
stalk so you wouldn't have to take your eyes off the road when driving and now it's they mess it all up with all these touch screens that force to TAKE your eyes off the road, it makes no sense.
All German cars have their signal
stalks on the left and
wiper control
stalks on the right but don't worry once you own one it'll be second nature to you and I kinda like how Mercedes put their gear lever on the steering column to free up space below.
The whole range gains new
wiper and indicator
stalks that «snap» into place, which is a more natural action ergonomically than the previous
stalks.
