When
Kurimanzutto opened in Mexico City in 1999, Mónica Manzutto and her husband, José Kuri, along
with the artist Gabriel Orozco, wanted to create something different from an ordinary commercial gallery.
He came up
with the concept for
Kurimanzutto's inaugural show in 1999: a dozen artists taking over two stalls in the Mercado Medellín in Roma to sell artworks made
with materials found in the market itself.

Kurimanzutto's Kabinett will feature a salon - style hanging of paper collages by South Korean artist Haegue Yang (b. 1971), which will be displayed against a backdrop of «Grid Bloc A3», a publication that Yang created in collaboration
with illustrator Jeong Hwa Min in 2013.

with the fair this year - from judging the Stand Prize which so moved me —

with refugees.
Referring to his project for
kurimanzutto new york, Cruzvillegas said: «I try to approach specific issues related
with my own circumstance, avoiding any biographic anecdote or narrative.
Presented first in 2016 at Art en Valise, and then Scrap Metal Gallery in Toronto, for this installation at
kurimanzutto new york, the works have been reassembled and Cruzvillegas has complemented them
with locally sourced, perishable and organic elements, such as cheese, bread, turmeric, ginger, molasses, lemongrass, avocados and Italian ham, to name a few.

For his current exhibition at
Kurimanzutto Gallery in Mexico City, artist Gabriel Orozco decided to work
with river stones.
To coincide
with the exhibition,
kurimanzutto will produce a publication which pays homage to the original format and concept of Signals London's Newsbulletin, which documented its exhibitions, and included critical essays, images, experimental poetry, and reports on new art and new science from home and abroad.

kurimanzutto has evolved as a forum for institutional exhibitions and international representation, while maintaining its profoundly collaborative approach

with an Open House on Thursday, May 3 from 12:00 - 8:00 pm.
