with incisive psychological and ethical insights in a drama centering on a man, his wife and a neighbor; and QUEEN OF EARTH, Alex Ross Perry's devilish study of mental breakdown and dysfunctional power dynamics between female best friends, starring Elisabeth Moss.

monsters) protagonists in any film last year.

Like dealing
with that meat
monster in the hot
girl's basement — things like that.
But Telluride, and Venice before it, offers up so many great roles for women — so many brilliantly told films about real and imaginary women: a gay rising tennis star, a cleaning lady who falls in love
with a
monster, an aging movie star, a bratty teenager, a young Cambodian
girl, and on and on it goes.
True, the movie has some fun
with Deadpool's relationship
with second - string X-Men like Colossus, who steals scenes as an incongruously gentlemanly and paternal metal
monster man, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, yet another sullen little
girl equally at home texting or destroying men and
monsters ten times her size, but it doesn't exactly reinvent the superhero movie.
