With Sonic Generations many players would shout to the high heavens that the 3D sections were better designed and the 2D sections fell flat at times.

Whereas Mania focused on the 2D games of Sonic's glory days, Sonic Forces keeps the series going forward featuring both Classic and Modern Sonic in a trend started back
with Sonic Generations.
Likely a slight pun on the fact that their focus to go fast more often than not results in something a little lacklustre, the team is committed to bringing Sonic back to its former glory
with Sonic Generations being a good starting point.
And here we are,
with Sonic Generations, a game that, almost literally, remakes the better parts of every Sonic game.

Sonic Forces is not the straight sequel to
Generations fans may have been expecting,
with the most notable change to Modern
Sonic's Boost formula being how much more linear and automated everything has become.

A bit like
Sonic Generations did, but a bit more in keeping
with the original source material than

Sonic game possible for both parties.
2011's
Sonic Generations made a massive leap in the right direction, using a hefty dose of nostalgia in re-imagining classic levels from the better entries in the series in both 2D classic
Sonic style and some actually brilliant 3D levels, each
with style specific
Sonic designs, one short and chubby, the other lanky
with those green eyes!
Pre-Christmas price cuts for
Sonic Generations have also helped Sega's platformer
with the blue blur dashing up from # 19 to # 15.
I want a
Sonic Generations port... But
with more levels.
Of course,
Sonic Generations did a great job at showcasing how a 3D
Sonic game can be done, and it remains to be seen what
Sonic Team will do
with the upcoming Project
Sonic 2017.
I put in some time playing
Sonic Mania at E3 2017, and I have to say — despite the bad feelings from
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and mixed feelings from
Sonic Generations, I am about as on board as I can be
with this game.

Sonic title, reminiscent of
Sonic Generations, once again incorporates the fast - paced action of modern
Sonic with the platforming classic
Sonic from the 90's.
The
Sonic franchise was finally making a turn around
with titles like
Sonic Colors and
Sonic Generations, now those of us without a Wii U console will be left out in the dark (and there are many of us according to console sales reports).
They had something great
with Sonic Colors and then
Sonic Generations, and then they threw that away for
Sonic: Lost World.
As for the
Sonic Generations trailer, it looks like good game - play
with nice speed and the changing of the camera angles around to keep things interesting.

The hedgehog's games have improved recently
with Colors,
Generations, and the Rush series, and Adventure 2 stands the test of time as the last really good 3D
Sonic.

with Sonic's 2.5 D outings at large, however, the physics seem off,
with jump height and your precise mobility in the air a little hard to gauge, and in any case, there's nothing on offer here that
Generations didn't do better.

With yesterday's news of Microsoft benevolently bestowing Xbox One compatibility on some of its older Xbox offerings, comes news of Xbox One X enhancements for five games as well as addition of backwards compatibility for
Sonic Generations.
Generations proved that the 3D / Classic hybrid can work and as such, we could get on board
with the mind - bending, stomach churning bewilderment of a 3D
Sonic level if it meant we had a balance of old and new along for the ride.

Sonic Generations.
November sees the release of the surprisingly anticipated
Sonic:
Generations, and by the way things are looking, SEGA intends to get
Sonic back on track, going all out
with everything fans have wanted in a
Sonic game.
That console
generation and the one which followed it marked a golden age for polygonal platformers,
with series like Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooie, Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank as well as Sly Cooper showing how fresh and exciting the genre could be while old stalwarts like Mario and
Sonic tried their luck in the third dimension, to varying degrees of success.
Sonic Generations,
with its split between old / new
Sonics, was the most engaging traditional
Sonic game in years, but it was released to commemorate
Sonic's 20th anniversary and was clearly a one - off.
The version of Green Hill zone we're shown is very similar to the version we saw in
Sonic Generations, but
with LEGO edits.
From what I could tell, Classic
Sonic's momentum felt very much like it did in
Sonic Generations — which is good, however, fans did express their concerns
with the momentum not feeling like that of the Genesis titles.
