I would be worried about
chalk dust with dust allergies and being in a kitchen around food.
There is a warning, as there should be
with ANY brand of calcium carbonate, stating that prolonged exposure to
chalk dust could cause lung cancer, so use caution when mixing your paints, girlfriends.
Wipe down to remove any
dust, then paint
with a couple of coats of egg shell, or even better, try a
chalk paint that doesn't require the furniture to be sanded down before application.
