I have made some delicious sauces
with dried chilies, soaking and pureeing them or
toasting them and grinding them
with other spices, but this sauce is way more flavorful than its ingredients suggest and much friendlier for a busy cook.
Roughly chop the almonds and pistachios, either
with a knife or in a mortar and pestle, and
dry toast in a pan on the stove top for just a few minutes.
It consists of Roma and sun -
dried tomatoes tossed
with fresh basil, pungent garlic, fruity olive oil, and sweet balsamic vinegar, piled on top of
toasted slices of baguette, and finished
with a blanket of melted fresh mozzarella.
(For deeper flavor, you can
toast them in a
dry skillet for a few seconds first, until they become a little deeper red, but be careful - that is spice - gold you're playing
with there!)
I usually like to fill my salad

I have been a fan of Matzoh since first introduced to it in 1978 and yes,
toast it, eat
with P & J, have it
dry with tea, eat it
with absolutely anything.
Mixing in the whole
toasted oats gives these cookies more texture, and hydrating the
dried apples
with steeped chai tea gives these cookies an extra boost of flavour!
I generally use
dried cranberries and or some
toasted nuts to add tang and crunch, but this time I went
with the pomegranate seeds.
Served
with toasted Ezekiel Sprouted Muffins topped
with garlic, olive oil and
dried marjoram.

Another idea if you don't want to add onions but want a little crunch is top it
with some
toasted walnuts or pecans or I even use a trail mix that has a combination of sunflower seeds, pepitas,
dried cranberries and nuts.
In the oven now is a mixture of
toasted pistachios, pepitas,
dried cranberries, chopped
dried figs and sweetened
with maple syrup.
When you top it
with a sprinkle of freeze
dried strawberries and
toasted coconut, it becomes a beautiful (and healthy) drink to bring to the brunch table.

I baked some into a cranberry apple crumble pie and I've been adding them to salads
with roquefort,
dried cranberries and
toasted pecans.
You can use any combination you like, but I mixed about 1/2 cup plain low fat granola
