By most accounts no one, not even the traditional
public schools have enough funds to educate everyone and some charters, such as John W. Lavelle Preparatory Charter

with some of the toughest sped kids and basically the same money as everyone else.
Public Impact has published new career paths stemming from our
school models that use job redesign and technology to reach more students
with excellent teaching.
Public Impact,
with help from teachers and others, will soon begin releasing designs that clarify how to make these changes in
schools, within budget, and pay
excellent teachers more for the additional children they reach.

GCP opened in August 2001
with 80 fifth - graders who, along
with their families, chose to believe they could transform 27 acres of peanuts and soybeans into an

Many
schools «failed» year after year, and as 2014 approached, the majority of
public schools in the nation had been declared failures, including some
excellent, highly regarded
schools (typically, the group that was not making sufficient progress toward 100 percent proficiency was students
with disabilities, and the
schools that were likeliest to be labeled as failing enrolled high proportions of poor and minority students).
As a Program Manager
with New Leaders, an education nonprofit focused on training and developing
excellent school leaders, she collaborated
with district leadership from Newark
Public Schools in creating principal evaluation and development tools.
While
public charter
schools with strong accountability systems can provide
excellent opportunities for children, this voucher plan could leave many students vulnerable to discriminatory practices, remove critical civil rights protections, and drain funding from
public schools.
He also believes that every
public school must develop the capacity to provide every child
with an
excellent education — regardless of background, challenges, or starting points.

As the
Public Impact team has worked
with teachers on their pilot
school design teams, we have seen how extending the reach of
excellent teachers through Opportunity Culture models starts a virtuous cycle enabling increased teacher selectivity, opportunity, and higher pay — for all teachers.
This annual event brings together all the 1,000 or so teachers who work in Friendship
Schools, an excellent group of charter and traditional public schools in Washington, DC and Baltimore (which are featured in our other short film, Unchartered Territory, along with their inspirational leader Donald

Public Schools, graduation last year
with honors in high
school and
with honors and an AA through the district - wide Running Start program.
If the state doesn't want us to use levies to fund basic education, which they are recommending, then we need to figure out how to cover the 3.5 B. Meanwhile,
with or without a balanced budget, we still have to provide every
public school child the opportunity for an
excellent education, which is part of the constitutional requirement addressing k - 12
public education in the state.
Launched in 2011, Project Leadership and Investment for Transformation, or L.I.F.T., is a five - year initiative in nine low - performing
schools in Charlotte, North Carolina.35 The project focuses on innovative strategies to provide students
with extended learning time and increased access to technology while supporting community engagement and
excellent teaching.36 Project L.I.F.T. worked
with Public Impact — a nonprofit organization that works
with school districts to create innovative
school models — to design hybrid teacher - leader roles that «extend the reach» of high - performing teachers to more students.37 These «multi-classroom leaders» continue to teach while leading teams of teachers and assuming responsibility for the learning of all students taught by their team.38 For this advanced role, teachers earn supplements of up to $ 23,000 annually, funded sustainably by reallocating funds within current budgets.39

public school system to help ensure all students have access to
excellent instruction and help our partners meet their goals for students,
with a focus in three areas: rigorous academics, talented people, and supportive environments.
