After toasted bread slices are cool, spread one slice with mustard and the other
with fig spread.
It's not trying too hard
with fig spread or melted double - cream brie or goat gouda (although don't get me wrong — I love and need all of those things, too).

with sage and red wine for a sumptuous
spread worthy of any glossy magazine cover.
I couldn't decide between topping the whipped cinnamon goat cheese
with fig jam or pumpkin butter (my two favorite autumnal
spreads), so I chose both!
Among the
spread were
fig - tallegio grilled cheese, buckwheat flatbread
with hummus and caramelized onion, cumin and chive deviled eggs, and NYU colored rainbow cookies.
Spoon a few tablespoons of
fig butter / jam into the center of the frosting dam and
spread evenly
with the back of a spoon or an offset spatula.

Brush cut - out shapes — naan works well —
with a little olive oil and then
spread with fig or rhubarb jam and dollops of goat or cream cheese; combinations of grated cheeses; tomato sauce underneath and it's almost a pizza; a thin slice of apple or pear topped
with grated cheddar cheese; and by all means include the caramelized onions if that's kid - friendly enough.
Okay, so just for the heck of it while I was
spreading on the jam, I decided to only do half of it
with the strawberry rhubarb jam and a opened a jar of
fig preserves that I have had in the cupboard and
spread that on the other half.
Figs, pears, apples and quince blend together
with sweet spices, earthy hazelnuts and a deep bodied red wine (such as a Zinfandel) in this irresistibly tantalizing
spread.
If you don't want to seek out these types of flours you can use a more traditional cookie dough like the one here or here (minus the chocolate chips) to use in conjunction
with the delicious port -
fig spread.
Spread with the
fig preserves and top
with the Brie and pecans.
The soft cheese is
spread on toasted artisan bread and topped
with fresh
figs, balsamic glaze and fresh rosemary.
