with airlines eliminating
first class is that for the most part, airlines don't release as much business
class award space as they release
first class award space, since they actually sell business
class.
First Class award space is wide open starting the end of this month,
with at least half the days available of every month through January 2018.
The real advantage is that Singapore Airlines makes some premium cabin
award space (Business
Class and
First Class) available for redemption
with its own miles.
Right now, Business

with very regular

Qantas
first class award space between Australia and the US is almost impossibly difficult to come by to begin
with, and is tougher on AAdvantage miles when others have a three week head start.
I'd recommend using United miles to book Lufthansa
first class — you avoid the higher surcharges that are now charged
with Aeroplan
awards, you don't face Starnet blocking as you do
with US Airways (more about that below) and you use a lot fewer miles than you would
with Miles & More miles, although it's true that only Lufthansa's Miles & More members get advance access to
first class award space.

with Cathay Pacific
first class award space?
First Class award space — denoted by «Miles 114444» on the calendars below — is excellent on the route within one week of departure
with up to four
First Class seats being released.

award space today through a week from now in both directions on Cathay Pacific's five American routes
with First Class.
In
First Class, the
award space from London to Abu Dhabi is also wide open for the next week
with award space every day, denoted by «Miles 54949.»
