I'm actually too lazy to use
these with our flat diapers, but they work really well for other uses!
The Best part about cloth diapering
with flat diapers is usually they are cheap.
I would definitely travel
with flat diapers again, and the main reason is for how easy they were to wash in the hotel bathtub!
Today I'm going to share
with you the flat diapers and covers that I'm using for the challenge, and their cost.
With flat diapers you get to learn fun folds such as the Origami Fold or the Kite Fold.
If you aren't familiar
with a flat diaper, these are your grandma's diapers.
Not exact matches
They work
with almost all styles of prefolds,
flats and snapless fitted or contour cloth
diapers.
They are used
with diapers that are not waterproof on their own, such as
flats, prefolds, and fitteds.
It does have a higher rise in the waist over the regular Best Bottom cover, meaning you will likely need to wait to loose your umbilical stump, but I can easily see this working on average sized 8 - 9 pound newborn (especially
with a folded on prefold or
flat diaper which adds additional all over bulky).
These «old school»
diapers have gained popularity recently
with wahm's making them out of hemp and bamboo, and moms using colorful receiving blankets as
flats.

diapers can prematurely wear out elastics and polyurethane laminate coatings.
I would recommend giving the fitted cloth
diaper a try if you have a heavy wetter, are looking for a good night time
diaper, or don't want to deal
with folding prefolds or
flats.
I've only used this as a cover
with prefolds and
flats, not
with the flip
diapering system, but I found it to be a nice and trim option.

with covers are usually the least expensive cloth
diaper option, many parents still prefer the simplicity of pocket
diapers for many reasons!

Truth be told,
Flat Diapers are fairly straightforward
with a bit of practice.
With just about any
flat diaper fold, you can turn the front or back down to make the
diaper smaller.

Because I'm taking a hiatus from all - in - one (AIO) cloth
diapers, I've opted to use my stash of
flat diapers and smart bottoms prefold

Prefolds still exist, and
flats do too, but the Laminated Cloth
Diaper Covers are so much easier to use
with snaps or velcro and instead of pins you can use a great item called a Snappi.

If you don't travel much, then a regular
flat cloth
diaper will do, but if you and your baby are always on the go, then a fitted cloth
diaper with a cloth
diaper cover is more suitable.
