That's why it's not unusual for parents of
food allergic eaters to focus so much on making sure there are no traces of a certain allergen (which is the number one priority), that they do not concern themselves
with other ingredients — allergens, toxins,
food additives and colorings, that could be contributing to other, seemingly unrelated health issues that their
child is facing as well.
Because
food allergies are so serious, be sure to respect a
child's
food allergies and alert parents and
children when a
food might have been made
with a
food that they are
allergic to.
Children with negative or low antibody levels and even moderate levels may not actually be
allergic to those
foods, so those test results must be interpreted based on the symptoms the
child has when he eats those
foods.
As a parent of a
food allergic child, most of my time is spent attending to the physical and mental necessities of caring for a
child with food allergies.
My mission was originally going to be an organic, whole
foods based cookbook for families
with allergic children, but the more I learned about ingredients that we use in the USA that are banned elsewhere, the more I became interested in finding products that were holistic.

food allergic children, they understood exactly my fears.

As a parent
with a severely
allergic child, having the
food in the classroom is the issue I would be greatly concerned about.
But if your baby has moderate to severe eczema, has had an
allergic reaction to a
food or has a known
food allergy, or has a sibling
with a peanut allergy, your
child's doctor may have specific recommendations about which solids to start
with and when.
A positive result on an allergy blood test for a
food that your baby has not yet tried (Blood tests for
food allergies are usually done only for
children with a history of an
allergic reaction.)
Now, signs outside of classrooms warn parents that there is an
allergic child in the class and list the
foods that can not send in
with their non-
allergic children.
Not only do
children with food allergies tend to have other health problems, such as other
food allergies or asthma, but the more a
child with allergies is exposed to whatever he or she is
allergic to, the worse the body can react.

with their schools and the school board on making sure
food allergic children are safe in their schools.
They either were bold enough to say they can provide safe meals for any
food allergic child or they have never had a student
with food allergies and therefore don't know what accommodations will be needed such as ensuring cross contamination doesn't occur.
When your
food allergic child (ren) go to college, tell them this: do not keep them hidden from the person / people you're living
with!
