I feel like I struggle
with food photography so that means so much!
Today I'm thinking back one year later and reflecting on my experience
with food photography in Rome at Meeta...
This past week, I pre-made 24 vegan pumpkin muffins so they could spend the entire 45 minutes experimenting
with food photography: different backgrounds, angles, lighting, poses etc..
I still can't believe how far I have come in just 2 years
with my food photography.
I have over four years of experience
with food photography and styling.
I actually don't have much in the form of cute cups, so they help
me with my food photography, hahaha.
I don't really claim to know what I'm doing
with food photography but my top tips are to avoid taking photos at night and no flash.
I purchased my first DSLR camera and more or less fell in love
with food photography.
Learning about different props and styling ideas left me inspired to be more inventive and creative
with my food photography and it had me sitting at the edge of me seat all afternoon as I was eagerly awaiting the chance to apply what I had learned in my own photography.
I am just starting
with food photography and taking nice pictures certainly looks way easier than it is.
The app is smooth and visually engaging,
with food photography worthy of a glossy magazine.

Looking back on that photo and the short text that came
with it, I definitely feel that we have learned a whole bit about
food photography, recipe writing and blogging during these years.

Food photography is typically one of your strenghts, but
with this one, appetizing isn't what comes to mind.

When I first started this blog in 2010, I posted a recipe for chocolate - chip and double chocolate meringues,
with a really ugly photo, before I learned that you never, ever want to use a flash for
food photography.

In this first tutorial I'll break down a few of my favourite pointers that I like to share
with anyone who wants to step up their
