But lows happened more often without the device, and
with it they were less severe because the algorithm calculated the
curve of their
glucose levels when it was still in a safe range and switched off the insulin pump once it saw a low in the offing.
Results:
With the fasting
glucose concentration used as a baseline from which to determine the area under the
curve, the high - protein diet resulted in a 40 % decrease in the mean 24 - h integrated
glucose area response.
Moreover, neither the
glucose peak time nor the incremental area under the
glucose curve were significantly correlated
with GERs in the study subjects (P = 0.585 and = 0.335, respectively), which suggests that inhibition of gastric motility had only a secondary effect, if any, on the SME.
If we fit a quadratic

It is also well known that eating fat
with sugar slows the absorption and «flattens» the blood

curve, resulting in perhaps higher 2 hour
glucose values.
The study does show a U-

with fasting,
with the bottom of the
curve showing the mortality as stated in the conclusion of the paper; the lowest mortality is
with glucose levels averaging approximately 90 fasting and 100 mg / dl 2 hrs after a
glucose load.
My interpretation: Once again, we find that there is a U-shaped mortality
curve, and minimum mortality occurs
with average or fasting blood
glucose in the middle of the normal range — in the vicinity of 100 mg / dl or 5.5 mmol / l.
Daily plasma
glucose concentrations were 10 percent lower
with the high - fiber diet than
with the ADA diet (values for the area under the
curve, 3743 ± 944 vs. 3365 ± 1003 mg ․ hour per deciliter [207.8 ± 52.4 vs. 186.8 ± 55.7 mmol ․ hour per liter]; P = 0.02), and plasma insulin concentrations were 12 percent lower (values for the area under the
curve, 1107 ± 650 vs. 971 ± 491 μU ․ hour per milliliter [6642 ± 3900 vs. 5826 ± 2946 pmol ․ hour per liter]; P = 0.05)(Figure 1).
However, Behall (1990) compared the addition of 19.5 g of one of four different Functional Fibers (cellulose, carboxymethycellulose gum, karaya gum, and locust bean gum) to a low fiber diet

curves from a standard
glucose tolerance test and found no significant differences between the diets after 4 weeks.
With its high glycemic index, rice provides a quick
glucose and insulin spike that may be beneficial to working dogs, but a secondary carb source, which extends the energy

glucose curves performed at a veterinary clinic if their owners will not, or can not, home test.
We start
with lower doses, recheck blood
glucose curves, and adjust the dose of insulin based on response.
When starting a holistic plan for an animal on insulin - it is highly important that you work directly
with your veterinarian to monitor blood sugar levels, blood
glucose curves, and insulin levels being given.
Since diabetic pets should be monitored
with a blood
glucose curve periodically this is an ideal time to run this test.
