with less spice and make up some for those days (which are few and very far between) when I want a «sandwich».

Just like
with any chili recipe, the spiciness is a very individual thing, so while I put my measurements for the cumin and chili
spices, use your own taste as a guide: add
less or more cumin or chili powder, depending on how spicy and flavorful you like you chili, and also depending on how SPICY your chili powder is to begin
with.
As
with other Instant Pot recipes I've tested, I find that when cooked in the Instant Pot, the
spices become a bit
less noticeable, so I amped up the
spices in this Instant Pot Split Pea Dal a bit too — adding in a good dash of my favorite

with is New Mexico chile powder, a dry ground form of ají colorado basically, and it seems to have a brilliantly similar effect to that of the pureed version, but

less hassle (always a plus in my book!)
Most readers have used 2 tablespoons and enjoyed it, but if you think
less spice may be appropriate for you and your family, please start
with 2 - 3 teaspoons and mix in additional garam masala if desired at the end of cooking.
I think we'll try it again
with a little
less spice and work our way up to 2 Tbs.
