with the nutritional quality of school breakfasts and

As to LTFA and school
lunches, I'd like to say that there really needs to be better education for the schools / nutrition
services & personnel as to what is REALLY in the foods, what has / hasn't been disclosed by manufacturers (true grasp of the food labelling laws as currently written), and how to fully and accurately provide all students / parents / consumers
with timely and accurate ingredient lists so that fully - informed and educated decisions can be made as to when / if student might eat the cafeteria (bfast or

On one project, we worked
with a group of great students at Henry Sibley High School in St. Paul, MN, along
with a local chef, and the food
service staff, to come up
with a new school
lunch menu item.
Reading the comment carefully, you understand that the father (and child) feel less shame about taking advantage of school meals at breakfast, where the
service is universal (available to all regardless of economic need) versus at
lunch, where there is often a more visible distinction between paying and nonpaying students, or between students on the federally reimbursable
lunch line versus those who can purchase for - cash (and often more desirable) «a la carte» food, or (in the case of high schoolers) between students who can go off campus to buy
lunch at convenience stores and restaurants versus those
with no money in their pockets.
But I will say this: if a parent has a food allergic kid eating school
lunch, they most likely are in touch
with the district's nutrition
services department to regularly receive ingredient lists and allergen warnings.

service director likely has no control over the cafeteria time allotment, he / she might be able to point to other barriers that make lengthening the
lunch difficult (ratio of students: cafeteria size etc., budget for labor) 6) Schedule a meeting
with the school principal and share your concerns and ask how you might help to arrive at a solution.
