Since the passage of NCLB, racial disparities in school discipline have become more extreme,
with more students of color being suspended or expelled relative to their white peers.
By exploring districts» racial makeups, we see that across the board, Illinois has historically funded student groups in majority - White school districts better than their peers in districts
with more students of color.
Not exact matches
Although this decision to exclude Sarah from circle time appears to wrongly shame her, one
of her teachers demonstrated both compassion and insight to see that this form
of physical structure — sitting on the chair at the table —
with an activity to calm her mind and busy her hands —
coloring — in fact enabled Sarah to participate fully in their discussions and add to it
with more intelligent, creative contributions than most
of the other
students.
New York City has won a chunk
of federal funding that is designed to create or expand magnet programs
with the goal
of attracting
more students of color to schools.
The NYC Department

of students, especially children
of color, who are
more likely to attend subpar district schools.
The
students were aligned
with «NYC Let Them Play,» an advocacy group that pushes for
more sports programs in schools
of color.
With so many
students, so little time, and so much competition from the noisy world beyond the classroom, it's clearly not plausible for teachers to be ever
more expansive generalists, weaving a complex tapestry
of alluring
colors and textures into the fabric
of what must be covered in any given course.
Motivated to do
more, the
students decided to keep the donation page posted online and to collaborate
with the school's Alumni
of Color Conference, held at the end
of February.
As a teacher today, when I see my own
students of color, I think they're a lot
more comfortable
with ethnicity than I was.
Well, it was a system I developed to house my
students» crayons by placing them in milk cartons, which were cut, taped together, covered
with construction paper to match the
color of each crayon, and then covered once
more with clear contact paper!

more diverse workforce.
Students learn about nouns, verbs, adjectives, and
more with the help

But even so, white
students in the South are
more likely to be exposed to
