at the mo so should I start
with just 67g of
white flour, will an overnight starter do?
Originally it had a
white flour tart crust
with WAY to many steps and I got annoyed just looking
at the instructions so I decided to make it a tad simpler for all of us.
I got the idea for this ricotta - biscuit tart when my 4 - year - old and his mates
at kindergarten prepared the classic version of the tart
with dairy and
white -
flour - sugar biscuits for Mother's Day.
I did however, restrain myself from testing
with white whole wheat
flour (though I may try that
at some point).
The all - purpose
flours seemed better
at making plain
white breads, giving a generally superior taste,
with very good texture.
I know it's made of milk,
white sugar, some orange zest in strips that of course dissolves
at the end, some rice that gets crushed to almost powder (I don't know the why about this and I want to replace it
with a tiny bit of rice
flour).
These pancakes just happen to be oil - free and don't use any
white flour at all; packed
with oats, pecans, and whole wheat
flour, they're hearty without being dense.
I used coconut oil
at room temp, I used soy milk instead of almond because that's what I had, and I replaced about 2 / 3c of the
white flour with oats because I love oats in my cookies!
My recipe is a wheat bread
with 62.5 %
white and 37.5 % wholemeal wheat
flour at 62.5 % hydration.
I tried this recipe today
with white rice
flour and it didn't form into a dough
at all.
Grain: i play around
with them, but i am all for subbing whole grain for
white flour,
at least 50 %.
Spiced Apple Cider Donuts Unlike traditional donuts made
with white flour, these apple cider donuts are made
with spelt
flour, which help stabilize your blood - sugar levels and keep hunger
at bay.
I also use whole wheat pastry
flour and coconut oil, which in my view are better alternatives than the plain old
white flour, which is refined and
with no nutrition

This time I used Bob's Red Mill coconut
flour that I found in bulk
at my local coop, and the results

Came out perfect:) I hate when people change the whole recipe but here I just wanted to make do
with what I had
at home so since I didn't have whole - wheat
flour I just used
white flour, I used Turkish strained yogurt which wasn't liquid enough so I had to add some extra milk and I also doubled the spices (because you can never have enough cinnamon hehe I probably put about a tablespoon of cinnamon and a tablespoon of pumpkin spice which is basically cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg etc).
This variety also uses bread made from refined
white flour, dough conditioners, and quite a lot of other ingredients I can not even pronounce and would never cook
with at home.
This includes sugary foods such as baked goods,
white breads, processed foods like crackers and cookies, fruit juices, candy, and most anything you can read in the labels that has enriched
flour, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or anything listed
with a «- tose»
at the end of it.
Just think about it: if you were trying to balance a very tight budget in an operation which lives or dies based on how well students accept your food, and if many (sometimes, the vast majority) of those students came from homes in which nutritionally balanced, home cooked meals are far from the norm, and if the food industry was bombarding those kids
with almost $ 2 billion a year in advertising promoting junk food and fast food, and if you had no money of your own for nutrition education to even begin to counter those messages, and if some of those kids also had the option of going off campus to a 7 - 11 or grabbing a donut and chips from a PTA fundraising table set up down the hall, wouldn't you, too, be
at least a tiny bit tempted to ramp up the
white flour pasta, pizza and fries and ditch the tasteless, low - sodium green beans?
Look
at what you are eating in your current diet and try replacing — either partially or completely — the refined grain products, such as
white flour,
white rice and pasta,
with wholegrain options.
Amazingly enough, you can't tell they are low in sugar
at all, and the coconut
flour chocolate chip muffins are extremely filling compared to the ones you buy
at the store made
with white flour.
What do you think causes a larger insulin spike: a large apple and all its sugar, a cup of oatmeal packed
with carbs, a cup and a half of
white flour pasta, a big bunless burger — no carbs
at all — or half of a salmon fillet?
A myriad of processed foods can be made
with cheap vegetable oil, sugar and
white flour and sold
at a huge markup.

White All Purpose
Flour, brown sugar, chunky peanut butter, dark chocolate chips, eggs
at room temperature, granulated sugar, Maldon sea salt flakes, pure vanilla extract, salt, unsalted butter

Unfortunately, there are many individuals who became vegetarians or vegans only to supplement animal foods
with plant ones but
at the same time they still consume refined sugar,
white flour products, refined grains and pasta or even harmful stimulants.
-- If possible go on unrefined vegan diet or
at least reduce all animal foods (meat, dairy, etc.) and avoid foods
with refined sugar and
white flour products for
at least three months.
You should keep some of this mixture on hand
at all times, as it works
with nearly any recipe calling for
white flour.
Opt for brown rice pasta, or
at least whole wheat, instead of the usual
white, and try baking
with oat
flour instead of the
white stuff.
