poetic gestures and erratic voice - works combined
with everyday sounds.
With filmic and photographic works, each artist uses
poetic and compositional
gestures to give good and long looks at changing horizon lines and natural forms.
Each of the six artists will present works aligned
with the methodologies or interests inherent to the
poetic process, lending a lyrical sense to both material and object by using a mix of individual abstract language and intuitive composition or
gesture.
This style of painting developed in tandem
with Surrealism, extending the latter's Symbolist inheritance into strange, nervous or dreamlike mark - making and calligraphic
gestures, eventually producing a highly
poetic European counterpart to Abstract Expressionism.
