with public nursing.

with nursing in
public, or in a church.

It is accepted in restaurants and stores and expected in
public spaces
with lovely areas provided for
nursing mothers and their families.
David Jaacks, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and his Smithfield Company have come up
with a design for a small enclosure for
nursing moms, a «lactation suite,» that could soon spread to
public areas including airports and malls worldwide.
Once you get comfortable and confident
with your own way of
nursing in
public it will become incredibly easy and convenient to be out and about anywhere
with your child (even up hill and down dale on a Yorkshire country walk).

It's so cute that she associates that
with public places and knows that we don't use one at home unless there are other kids around such as our older son's friends who might have not been exposed to
nursing at home.
(and Jane, for what it's worth, I rarely
nursed in
public with my first, but it's a whole other ball game
with the second, LOL, I'll whip the girls out just about anywhere if necessary!)
I agree
with Jane in regards to the fact that some just aren't comfortable
nursing in
public, but it would still be wonderful if every
nursing mom to feel like she's able to and will not be judged.
I don't have a problem
with lactation rooms as long as women are not told that they must use them and as long as enough women keep
nursing in
public to help normalize it and help combat the images of sexual breasts
with images of nourishing breasts.
One thing that helped my confidence
with nursing in
public, was investing in a couple of good pieces of
nursing wear that exposed only what Bub needed and left the rest covered.

Most doctors, pediatricians, and
public heath
nurses fully support the use of cloth diapers, and you could discuss
with them the next time you are in for a checkup, but I am confident that the response will be positive to them.
The key to supplementing an active baby in
public is to find a relatively quiet place to
nurse,
with fewer distractions, especially when baby is tired and hungry.
As
with anything, breastfeeding parents should cover or not cover to their comfort level, and parents shouldn't feel obligated to
nurse, in
public or at all.
Most of the negativity around
nursing in
public comes from people erroneously associating breasts
with sex.

public is something that you feel you can do will depend on the culture of the area you're in, your feelings about modesty, and your comfort

So, if busybodies pop up
with ridiculous questions like, «Well, if women can just
nurse in
public, what's next?
I don't have a problem
with breastfeeding covers in general, and I realize that they make some
nursing parents feel more comfortable while
nursing on the go, and I'm all for that, but personally there's one thing I won't ever do while breastfeeding in
public: I won't ever use a breastfeeding cover.
SUNNY GAULT: Yeah, I mean, I think that's, you know, the whole point
with the whole baby - friendly initiative is, you know, when moms come in to a hospital, you really don't know their background, you don't know, you know, did their mom breastfeed, you know, have they, you know, have they ever seen someone
nursing in
public, like you don't know where they start off.

One more observation on

The overall goal is to get babywearing educators to think outside the box of working
with babywearers, and for
nurses and
public health workers to see the compelling statistics about why they want to get a babywearing education and bring it to their hospital / office.
That means no
nurses pushing formula, lactation support in the hospital, support for moms in the workplace, cultural norms that allow women to breastfeed in
public places without being shamed, and more support among women for dealing
with the challenges.

nursing mother is an attention - seeking lunatic» It also works against women who would like to see more paid maternity / parental leave or flex time for working because it gives the idea that THIS is what women are going to do
with that extra paid time, show up topless to a
public event and sit on the floor

Now my main issue
with doing it in
public is how exposed I feel
nursing «from the top.»

Going out in
public also created frustration as I was nervous to
nurse with an audience and embarrassed because I felt like others could tell I wasn't completely sure of what I was doing.
The first time I
nursed in
public I was gifted a really cute
nursing cover when I was pregnant
with my first kid.
That one encounter helped my husband to feel 100 % comfortable
with nursing in
public as well — knowing that people would not always be rude to his wife.
