While organic gardeners concede the point that most compost is low in soluble
nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous, Jack Ruttle observes: «I have grown many fine vegetable gardens
with no other fertilizer than an inch or two of
pure compost applied once a year, and I have known plenty of other gardeners who do the same.»
To pay for this expensive proposition, each of the pollutants gets turned into a product: sulfur into sulfuric acid for the pulp and paper industry,
nitrogen into ammonia for agriculture and carbon into
pure CO2 for oil companies, traveling down a new specially built pipeline 60 miles to interconnect
with the existing network.
Another reason to consider sticking
with nitrogen is that if ever you decide to go back
pure nitrogen, you'll need to bleed all the air out and replace it
with nitrogen.
When compared
with pure electric vehicles that use coal - generated electricity, H600's emission of sulfide,
nitrogen oxide, and particle matter is 0.17 %; 0.67 %; and 50 % of the latter, respectively (a typical coal power plant emits 272 grams of PM when generating one kWh of electricity).
