It is a good idea to worm your kitten
with pyrantel pamoate when it is six weeks of age (or earlier if your veterinarian suspects intestinal parasites).
The Companion Animal Parasite Control Council recommends deworming kittens beginning at age 3 weeks
with pyrantel pamoate.
Many of these pet store puppies have stubborn diarrheas that do not resolve
with pyrantel pamoate because that compound does not affect strongyloides and many vets miss the parasite on fecal exams.
When combined
with pyrantel pamoate it is also used for treating roundworm and hookworm in dogs.
It is recommended that the following drugs not be used
with pyrantel pamoate as they increase side effects potential: levamisole, morantel, or piperazine (all are other dewormers) or with organophosphate insecticides.
If not, it should be wormed at least twice
with pyrantel pamoate or fenbendazole before it is bred.

with pyrantel pamoate.
Continuous monthly administration of prophylactic doses of ivermectin, alone or in combination
with pyrantel pamoate, is also highly effective against late precardiac larvae and young (< 7 mo postinfection) quasi-adult HW.
When kenneled cats are involved the kittens should be wormed at six, nine and eleven weeks of age
with pyrantel pamoate.
If not, it should be wormed at least twice
with pyrantel pamoate before it is bred.
