read the
printed pages - what a wonderful smell, the feel of real paper, the rustling of it, the little notes I sometimes write next to the text (or used to), the ability to pass the same
book,
with inscriptions, to the children who might pass them on to theirs... and someday, those little hands that hold the very same
book will associate a grandparent
with it.

Among the students who opt to use tablets for something other than
reading when given the chance, would those students really
read a
book if they were provided
with a
print edition, or would they simply shun the activity altogether in favor of something they found more entertaining?
Booknet Canada recently conducted a survey
with 750 respondents and asked if they had
read or listened to a
book in the previous year —
with 82 % responding that they had — and which formats (
print, audio, ebook) they consumed.
An e-reader study found that 40 % of e-reader users
read more than they did
with print books.

reading print books: folks who might be a little older and are starting to need
