tyres the previous model was equipped

For the Santa Fe the problem seemed to be the 19 - inch Hankook
tyres, which are quiet on bitumen and fairly grippy in bends, but left
rubber behind on one rocky surface, even
with the centre differential locked.
The 17 - inch Pirelli Cinturato P7 225 - section
tyres have nice grip but they tend to make you realise around the corners that you could've done
with better

tyres and 18 - inchers get 225 / 40 - series hoops.
The latest Megane RS Trophy lapped the Nurburgring on proper road
tyres (Bridgestone RE050A, the same
rubber used on HSVs, Porsches and other performance cars) whereas the R26.R used in 2008 came
with Toyo semi-slick road - racing
rubber.
With less
rubber on the road (it runs narrower 215/55 R17 Michelin Primacy
tyres as opposed to the Mazda's 225/55 R17 Toyo Proxes and the Holden's 225/55 R17 Bridgestone Turanzas) it also generates less cornering grip.
Even in heavy rain,
with delicate steering inputs the Pirelli
rubber offers decent grip and delivers reassuring handling however we noted it is very easy to elicit some
tyre squeal from the 17 - inch wheels on take - off in the 595 Competizione.
All areas the previous
tyres struggled
with and the main reasons plenty of owners couldn't wait to fit conventional
rubber as soon as the opportunity arose.
