After all, the law school experience is hardly what you'd call hospitable, what
with Socratic interrogations and aloof professors.
As 3 days have passed and, (1) in my view, neither of my interlocutors have replied setting out what it is they claim is wrong
with the Socratic Method, (2) I have admitted that I plan to offend, then (3) I am going to offer my view on what it is they find wrong
with the Socratic Method.
The case study system, employed
with the Socratic method, forces the student to challenge their own inferences to foster objective, less - biased legal decision - making.

The limitation which has been noted was that
Socratic man's self - identification
with one factor within the soul alongside other factors prevented the incipient sense of personal responsibility for the psychic life in general from coming to fruition.
Gnosticism did succeed in extricating the self from its identification
with reason and will, and in this respect it went beyond
Socratic and prophetic existence.
It must mean also that there is something about
Socratic existence which calls for this expansion into a larger whole
with a changed center.

But his battles were mostly fought
with so - called «West Coast» Straussians, whose dogmatic interpretation of natural rights was very different from their namesake's
Socratic skepticism.
It did succeed in extricating the self from its identification
with reason and will, and in this respect it went beyond
Socratic and prophetic existence.
With respect to the thesis that spiritual existence is the fulfillment and transcendence of
Socratic existence, a qualification is necessary.
Because of the essential character of
Socratic existence, the identification of the self
with active reason, Socrates could not attribute to the self a responsibility for the evil which a man enacted.
But there is another thread in Wilson's interpretation — namely, the debate
with Elizabeth Anscombe in 1948 at the

One thesis, offered by more than one writer, rests on the claim that Lewis gave up entirely his interest in reasoned apologetics after a 1948 debate
with Elizabeth Anscombe at a meeting of the Oxford
Socratic Club.
But «ethics» is a misleading word, because it carries
with it the assumption that there is a Christian ethic as there is a
Socratic or humanistic ethic.
Lear marvels that so much of what passes for commentary on
Socratic irony in Plato's dialogues has to do exclusively
with the question of whether Socrates dissembles, whether he wears a mask of unknowing behind which lurks either certainty about important matters or skepticism, perhaps even nihilism.
As long as Kierkegaard had no model

with this method too).
