Also, particularly on Windows I would recommend doing regular full
system images with a program like Macrium Reflect Free in addition to the automated
backups via File History so you don't have to reinstall everything over if your hard drive breaks.

with this «Select a

Windows really isn't designed to be moved between hardware without a full reinstall, and that's why it's best to create
backups of your files
with something like File History or another file -
backup tool rather than creating
system image backups.
Due to this, you can't create
backup system images in Windows 8.1, like you could do in Windows 7 or in Windows 8 — but the good thing is that you can still extract the
backup images created
with Windows 8 or Windows 7.
Windows 8.1 still allows you to import
backup images created
with Windows 7, so you can access your old files, but you can't create a Windows 7
backup or a
system backup image anymore.
One home monitoring
system may
backup the
images to the cloud and offer two - way communication while another might not, but it may give you integration
with third - party security services.

This isn't the ideal solution for backing up your files — even if you make
system image backups, you should be creating more frequent
backups of your important files
with File History — but some geeks may find it useful if they're playing
with the Registry or other
system files.
As is the case
with all developer previews installing the software by manually flashing the
system images should be done
with caution if you aren't used to the process, and it's important to
backup any data you want to save as manually flashing the
system image for Android P or any software will wipe the device just as it would
with a factory data reset.
