When Santorum or Rick Perry was the nominee it was all about social issues and bringing us back to being a «Christian nation» in good standing
with God for the Republicans, we heard a never ending drumbeat about abortion, prayer in schools,
teaching creationism, and trying to end funding for planned parenthood, even stopping the funding of birth control.

creationism would supplant evolution, all sciences that could possibly come in conflict
with creationism would be forbidden, all children would be required to pray and be educated in fundamentalist Christianity, women teachers would not be permitted to
teach males, girls only, etc..
A candidate isn't going to get anywhere
with most conservative evangelicals if they support a woman's right to chose, or if the candidate supports strict separation of church and state, and maybe even opposition to
teaching Creationism is going to lose their vote.
Nah, are you denying that religion has attempted (in fact currently is,
with Rick Santorum being a great example) to accomplish the above (deny rights to some groups, deny reproductive rights, have
creationism taught along side or in place of evolution)?
I think some uninformed people commenting here assume that all of Christianity agree
with creationism and that our position is that it should be
taught in the public schools and that is not correct.
All these parents who insist on
teaching «
creationism» to their kids as «science», while downplaying (or completely / hiding denying) the tangible bona fide evidence of evolution... I sometimes have to wonder why they don't simply feed lead paint to their kids and get it over
with.

teach creationism alongside evolution, then it must be presented as «just an idea... just a concept that ancient civilizations

Creationism does to children... though I may not personally agree
with the tenets of
Creationism, I do believe in the right of parents to pass their personal religious beliefs on to their children - whether those beliefs are Christian, Hindu, Muslim, etc....
I eventually became an Atheist, and I prefer the Theory of Evolution to
Creationism, and no longer believe in miracles, but the
teachings always stuck
with me.

Actually, this is another scientist who understands that there isn't a SHRED of proof to indicate that any god exists, and that American kids who are
taught creationism will be at a great disadvantage in the future when they try to compete for jobs against children
with real educations.

creationism», for what it really

The effort to secure action by state legislatures to require the
teaching of
creationism as science along
with evolutionary theories has already succeeded in two states.
If the religious community didn't push
Creationism and Intelligent Design to be
