The combination of pumping
with tidal lagoons is even better than conventional pumped storage.
In partnership
with the Tidal Lagoon Project, the University of Swansea, the Metropolitan University and Low Carbon Reserach Institute conducted Cape Farewell an urban art & science expedition.
Cape Farewell is working
with the Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay Ltd Team on an creative inquiry on how this change might look like, how it can be harnessed and influenced.

During normal
tidal conditions, the gates will lie flush
with the bed of the inlets to the
lagoon and water will pass over them as if nothing is amiss.
A report published by Friends of the Earth Cymru in 2007 quotes evidence that
tidal lagoons in the Severn estuary could produce more electricity than the proposed barrage, and
with less harm to wildlife.
