The dive sites on the western and northern sides of Bunaken consist of vertical walls abundant
with reef fishes, lobsters,
whip corals and giant gorgonians.
As on the Terrace wall, I found the
coral here rife
with feathery sea fans and other gorgonians, also
whip sponges, barrel sponges, black
coral, feather dusters, and the occasional crinoid.
The sandy base of the islands reveals unusual anemones and starfish, while the walls are covered
with orange cup
corals,
whip corals, and green tubastrea
coral.
Wide chutes lead to a wall covered
with yellow tube sponges, purple sea
whips and brain

On the other side of the wall lies another wall, definitely worth exploring if the current allows it: Covered in soft
coral, sponges, green tree
coral and fans, it is the hiding place for many morays and puffers and it drops off into a flat lunar like landscape
with whole gardens of
whip corals, vibrating in the current.
The exterior of the Dunraven's hull is now covered in hard
corals,
with sea
whips and gorgonians hanging from the vertical sections.
