Notes: I had success replacing the unbleached flour
with white spelt flour — but I'm afraid other whole grain flours may be too heavy (resulting in dense / chewier cinnamon rolls).

Although you can use all - purpose
flour with no problem, I've found that
white spelt flour (German type 630) works better
with the coconut oil version.
I didn't have
white whole wheat, so I made it
with two cups
spelt flour and one cup
white flour (I doubled the recipe).

Substitution tip: For best results replace 1 cup of
white flour with 1/2 cup whole wheat and 1/2 cup
spelt.
1 3/4 cup of
white spelt flavour (this is my favourite
flour to make waffles
with as they turn out really fluffy) 1 1/4 cup of creamy almond milk 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil 3 tablespoons of maple syrup 1 tablespoon of One Earth Vanilla Villa blend — if you can't find it add 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder or extract 1 teaspoon of baking powder a pinch of pink Himalayan salt or sea salt

with spelt flour and
white whole wheat
flour.
Spiced Apple Cider Donuts Unlike traditional donuts made
with white flour, these apple cider donuts are made
with spelt flour, which help stabilize your blood - sugar levels and keep hunger at bay.
Add 1/2 cup of
spelt flour and 1/2 cup of all - purpose
flour to a bowl, also add 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of sea salt, 1/2 teaspoon of
white sugar, 1 tablespoon of extra virgin Spanish olive oil, 1/3 cup of luke warm water and start mixing everything together, once all the ingredients are mixed together, get in there
with your hand, continue to mix until you form a dough, then knead inside of the bowl for a couple of minutes and form the dough into a ball
White spelt flour (whole
spelt with bran and germ removed) is excellent and more commonly available — I get mine in bulk at Whole Foods.
In anticipation of going grain - free and in an attempt to use up my supply of
white spelt flour, I decided to make Christmas cookies
with my scone recipe.
I've made these ones
with soft
white spelt flour, almond meal, coconut oil, coconut sugar, coconut cream, a flax egg and a touch of cinnamon and vanilla.
Combine the sifted (
white)
spelt, whole
spelt, and rye
flour with the potato starch, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, coconut sugar, and lemon zest in a large bowl and whisk to remove any lumps (I sifted mine, and added the sugar and zest afterwards).
The original dough is obviously not made
with buckwheat or
spelt, but normal
white flour, but
white flour isn't really nutritious, so whole - wheat it is.
You can replace the
spelt flour with an equivalent amount of whole wheat
flour or
white flour if you prefer.
