It never ceases to amaze me, the people who come out of the wood - work to comment on what's going on
within organized real estate — in terms of what can the motivation be.
I am a Past President (2011/12) of the Canadian Real Estate Association and Chaired the Futures Implementation Team (FIT), a group which led a change management process
within organized real estate in Canada.
I believe I've acknowledged on numerous occasions the problems of competence and ethics
within organized real estate.
Probably the most emphasized and taught aspect of our practice
within organized real estate is: Agency Law.
I am sure that there are plenty of other potential enforcers
within organized real estate with superior skills compared to mine in this regard, but they must be willing to sacrifice their careers whilst pursuing the good fight.

organized real estate, TARION is indeed a monopoly; every new home buyer «must» adhere to its dictates, pro or con, and every new home buyer pays for the insurance coverage, either by add - on charges at closing, or via the premium simply being buried

The Bureau mentions this VOW in their documentation of filing as an example of progress in NS but through observing these numbers in NS it's obvious that the public is still comfortable to work
within the traditional
organized real estate arena and have not abandoned their trusted agents to support this VOW provider.
Given the fact of the abysmal understanding of Agency Law, by the general
real estate industry, and that the expectation of enforcement is more perceived than
real, those sales industries that don't even pretend to embrace Agency Law are far more pure than what goes
within the ranks of
organized real estate!
I have had interactions with the legal profession and it's minders that have been as scandalous as anything that has ever occurred
within the halls of
organized real estate!
Although this is not the proper forum to have a discussion on fees I also fail to see how providing advice (as you indicated you do) to FSBO's and working
within the sphere of
organized real estate whilst using the umbrella of a discount brokerage can possibly add any value to our industry.
Cheap, easily accessed Interenet selling of other peoples» stuff is already becoming fraught with scam artists and below - the - radar misleading sales tactics against which the current
organized real estate system is set up to deal with; it is the bad apples
within the current system who are spoiling the entire barrel, providing ample ammunition for the barrel shooters to line up for their individual get - even shots into said barrel.
NAR exists because, as contentious as things sometimes get
within our association, without
organized real estate, both our industry as we know it and the concept of private ownership in this country would be diminished.
It is time for change and a major restructuring for

organized real estate.
The best part about this, is that I am not a member
within «
organized real estate», not associated with any local board and present this opinion solely as an interested outsider looking in.
I think that there is a need for some changes
within the structure of
organized Real Estate, but I believe that now that the current issue has been raised
within the «public» forum (which public still does not understand what the hell is going on), that the folks best suited to suggest what changes should be implemented are any but government types.
The major problem with the current
organized real estate set - up, as I see it, politically speaking, is that there is no continuity of leadership
within the CREA, OREA or local boards due to the inane practice of changing «part - time» «leaders» every year.
