The Saint Louis Museum of
Art presents Thomas Struth: Nature and Politics, a
photographic exploration of industrial and scientific research spaces featuring 35 large - scale works created
within the past decade.
An eponymous new show, opening tomorrow at Boston's Institute of Contemporary
Art, represents the first full North American survey of his practice, exploring Raad's focus on investigations into distinctions between fact and fiction, especially in relation to «the veracity of archives and
photographic documents in the public realm [and] the role of memory and narrative
within discourses of conflict».
Presumptuous and imposing, they manage to escape strict categorization as painting, sculpture or media
art, merging the power of
photographic and film pictures that Longo exploits as a mean of his research of importance of visual expression in popular culture and stereotypical portrayals of the individual's alienation

within art books — originals and reproductions — as a way of investigating authenticity
within modes of
photographic production.
The strength of these photographs lies in the
photographic reproduction of a particular space and time
within art history.

within the context of the artist's career; Chrissie Iles, Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz curator at the Whitney Museum of American
Art, examines the artist's position
within photographic and cinematic history; and novelist Kate Zambreno considers the fragments of lost objects and what it means to collect.

Arts Brussels May 25 - September 11, 2011 Especially conceived for Bozar, this original exhibition places the work of Canadian artist Jeff Wall (° 1946)
within his cultural context and
photographic creation.
At the end of this exhibition, the FRAC Auvergne will otherwise be lent dozens of CNAP's photographical
art works
within the frame of L'Oeil Photographique (The
Photographic Eye).
He went on to do his bachelor's degree at the Camberwell College of
Arts, University of the
Arts, London, which helped him expand his artistic practice to construct layers
within his
photographic narratives to allow for the viewer to question what they see by oscillating between reality and fiction.
Jackson's image is just one of the many striking
photographic portraits included in Black Chronicles II at Spelman College Museum of Fine
Art in Atlanta, Georgia, that activate an important dialogue about the history and record of Black faces and bodies
within Western culture.
Dedicated to exploring the veracity of
photographic and video documents in the public realm, the role of memory and narrative
within discourses of conflict, and the construction of histories of
art in the Arab world, Raad's work is informed by his upbringing in Lebanon during the civil war (1975 — 91), and by the socioeconomic and military policies that have shaped the Middle East in the past few decades.
Neelika Jayawardane,
art critic and scholar, will discuss the work of Zanele Muholi and the activist impulses
within this body of
photographic work.
