While Amma's teachings of love, inner peace and Karma, or action, resonate

Even though Bigelow had to face some harsh criticism from
women who saw Strange Days as an anti-
women film because of the shocking violence on display, it could be argued Strange Days is a pure feminist picture, as Angela Bassett's Mace is a physically imposing, capable, intelligent yet distinctly feminine character who might be the supporting pillar of Ralph Fiennes» lost soul, but
in some ways
remains the emotional center of the whole
film.
While
women in the audience may find resonance
in the comical prickliness, this
film remains more of a stage play than an actual movie.
Based on the description and on Robinson's track record, my hope is that the strength of these
women will be the highlight of the
film, and real attention will be given to the fact that they didn't just exist as Marston's «harem,» but were also
in a relationship with each other, and
remained together after his death.

remains one of America's most popular actresses, even as she has slowed down her appearances
in films after giving birth to twins
in 2004.
Alas, the constant reminder that Elijah «Flipper» Wood is the one scalping young
women remains a poor casting choice at best, but the
film manages to shine brightly
in spite of that.
In many ways, the
film remains a blueprint for a director obsessed with celebrating empowered, sexualised, and romantic
women, and this poster by cult Spanish illustrator Ceesepe (aka Carlos Sánchez Pérez) perfectly encapsulates its handmade, ugly - beautiful vibe.
The
film is very much a character study and Gerwig is brilliant
in the role as you believe this young
woman's struggles while she
remains content to drift through life.
And yet the fact
remains that I saw a great deal of movies this year and loved very few of them,
in part because so many of the prestige pictures («Boyhood,» «Birdman») left me cold, and
in part because it was such an excruciatingly paltry year for
films about girls and
women.
It would be naive to assume that this is an isolated case
in the
film industry or any other and while
women remain so underrepresented across all professions and
in politics, they
remain at risk.
