The Committee notes with satisfaction that the status of
women in Australian society has improved considerably during the reporting period, particularly
in public service,
in the
general workforce, and
in academic enrollment, although further equality has yet to be achieved
in many sectors.
According to the
General Statistics Office,
in 2015, the number of domestic migrants aged 15 years - old and over was approximately 1.24 million people
in which
women accounted for 57.7 %, and up to 78.4 % of them participated
in the
workforce (the remaining 21.6 % are students or unemployed).
