Oftentimes this pain is so excruciating it causes
women with endo to miss work, to decline social invitations and basically spend a lot of time on the couch with a heating pad.
Secondly, inflammatory markers like prostaglandins (hormone - like substances) present in
women with endo cause pain.
Some women with endo find their symptoms worsen, of course, with no rhyme or reason; if yours do, speak to your doctor about treatment options, including the pill and Mirena.
Nearly all the women I've met who share this disease have been told by a doctor in some form or another that the pain is all in their head, so most
women with endo don't get diagnosed for about a decade.
Though there are an estimated 1 in 8
women with endo, too many gynecologists don't believe endometriosis is serious, and some don't even believe it's a real disease (even though if you cut me open you can see it growing on internal organs!).

When I was doing research for my new course (The
Endo Toolkit), I found some research that revealed that cortisol levels are significantly higher in
women with advanced endometriosis as compared to
women without the disease.
Actually, I find this work powerful for
women with PCOS and
Endo because they can often feel very alone in their journey without a lot of answers or support from their doctors.
Women with endometriosis are often estrogen dominant (too much estrogen in relation to progesterone), and this increased estrogen can develop into more
endo tissue.
