Another big plus has been reading all
the wonderful birth stories here, which have given me much more confidence than I had with my first pregnancy and birth.
Just like people love to share a terrible birth story, and tend to shun those who had
wonderful birth stories, everyone loves to share the bad stories about what happened to someone else, or how another child turned out, and it doesn't really matter — to some extent — how they were parented, it's normally the mother's fault.
Not only is it very informative but also has
wonderful birth stories to read.

Especially when I hear other
birth stories and there are many obvious signs of distress, long and drawn out in a rough labor, and the baby comes out kicking and screaming... Now that we can look back on her
birth day, while holding a healthy, resilient little one, I'm still trying to figure out a way to disconnect the
wonderful, powerful, redeeming qualities of my experience, from the terrifying experience at the very end.

Because doctors can't sweep this information under the rug, there are public records of what happen, but you read those Hurt by Homebirth
stories and see how many times a perfectly nice
wonderful BFF of a midwife then turns into a complete bitch when the
birth goes wrong and they fear that there might be some sort of legal repercussion or bad press for them.
Every homebirth advocacy website and publication is chock to the brim with
birth stories about
wonderful, «empowering» homebirths.
We are lucky to have the
wonderful technology of
birth videos which I think need to be spread far and wide through schools and
birth stories need to be written and read often.

While not all of this is ideal (huge wards with lots of women and babies is not especially restful and the UK has its own share of traumatic
birth and postnatal
stories) and while UK breastfeeding rates may not be
wonderful, it does at least show that the idea of nurseries is not a worldwide concept at all.
Birth stories abound in books and on the internet of women having their babies in the most
wonderful or most unexpected ways and places.

birth in the upcoming weeks... one thing that you captured so well, and what I have struggled with describing, is how with your first you knew intellectually that you had a baby but instinctively felt unsettled and confused... I couldn't agree more with that statement.
