Appetizers include our new Tuna Poke with
crunchy wonton strips and spicy wasabi and our much loved charcuterie platter.
The creamy goat cheese and avocado, the crunchy almonds and
wonton strips... and the sweet and spicy shrimp... all combine to make a fabulous main dish salad.
(Dressing and
wonton strips can be made 2 hours ahead.
Also,
the wonton strips burned almost immediately — I generally don't deep fry, so don't have the intuition for it, but it seemed awfully hot to me.
I veered from Panera's version with the lack of chicken (duh), but also
the wonton strips and the double dressing.
I love
me those wonton strips, but didn't want to buy a big bag of fried deliciousness to have around the house, because DANGER, so the crunch in my version comes from the cashews and sesame - crusted baked tofu.
Asian Chicken Salad with Grilled Chicken (but without
the wonton strips) + 1/2 packet of Asian Sesame Dressing (or full serving lowfat Balsamic Dressing)
And there is nothing nicer than watching
a wonton strip brown in hot oil right before your eyes.
