did you find such a unique item?!
You could start with the scarred up hard
wood floors if you choose to redo the living room, master bedroom or empty nest room that we would love to convert to guest room / library / work out room or perhaps you'd be interested in making the subflooring in the dining room look amazing with a cheap but inspired DIY magic redo or maybe my collection of antique
mantels will inspire you to
do what has never been
done before in home design... who knows?

mantel is black (
wood)!!!! Oh, and one more confession... I don't like decorating
mantels!!!
As I was reading your post, I thought to myself, I have a dark
wood mantel and I
DO N'T wish I had a white one and low and behold... you had a picture of MY
mantel!
The great thing about this type of
mantel is that you don't need to get a solid piece of
wood for the top, purchasing a hollow design is lighter to hang and the seams won't be noticeable at all when covered with concrete, this saves a lot of money on the finished piece.
I
do think I would look at changing the countertops on the built in cabinetry to a
wood that matches the
mantel.
I just saw what you
did with another fireplace makeover with
wood above the
mantel.
We
do want to find a reclaimed
wood beam
mantel.
If reclaimed
wood is too hard to find, they could just as easily distress and stain some new lumber, like we
did for our
mantel:

wood beam for your
mantel already in your home or
did you install it yourselves?
I have no doubt whatever you
do will be awesome but I have concern re the rustic
wood above the
mantel.
With my fireplace all spruced up with the new stone front,
wood planked area above and fresh paint on the surround and
mantel, I don't want it to get filled with holes just so I can hang Christmas decorations.
Does the new tile butt to the
wood mantel?
Thank you so much for having the same less the purty brick fireplace surround as I
do and figuring out ** our ** solution:) We've already built a «
wood slipcover» for the
mantel and adding moulding above the fireplace but that plain brick was still harshing any design upgrade we came up with.
Where
did you purchase the baskets with the
wood pieces that are displayed on either side of the fireplace
mantel?
I didn't
do this as mine felt very secure from the
wood glue and it will not be hanging, I plan on leaning it on my
mantel or other surface.
