wood taken from sites he encounters in his daily life.
Red Flyer is part of this series and is constructed out of individual
painted wood sections.
This
section features five distinct sensibilities: Michael Dee with his large star sculptures made from heated plastic cups; David Kiddie collaborating with Michael Reafsnyder creating ceramic platters, and Reafsnyder alone, crafting mermaid goddesses out of clay; Heimir Björgúlfsson sees nature and culture as inseparable in his enigmatic found object works; and Wayne White continues to confound us with his unique brand of humor and skill in new ceramic work (PORKGREASE) and
painted wood sculptures.
Each frame member was coated in linseed oil
paint to preserve the
wood in the humid environment of a greenhouse, and then the framework was assembled in
sections.
Hail stones can dent or damage anything from aluminum to vinyl, while
painted wood siding frequently needs to have
sections replaced that have been subjected to moisture over the cold wet months.
Sections of the pale pine
