word skeptics in scarequotes» build strawmen out of
valid arguments too.
In part, the
argument, and it's a
valid one, is that using the
word focuses on what the person is not, rather than what they are.
Each partner has to explain, in their own
words, what happened during the
argument, what they felt, what their perspective was during the incident, and acknowledge that each partner's point of view is
valid.
