about the author, etc.).
Too many authors send identical emails to hundreds or thousands of people asking for things that are really publicity requests — asking people to review,
cover, or otherwise spread the
word about their
book.
If you pick a simple, abstract, one
word title that doesn't say anything
about the type of
book or story, the
cover art has to do all the work.
People are always talking
about judging a
book by its
cover, but for those of us who are obsessed with
words, I'd say a title is equally if not more important.
PS) These
covers may seem familiar; that's because I've modeled them after best - selling
books to show you that
covers made in MS
Word can match just
about any style.
Indie authors perversely focus on marketing, social media, and «getting the
word out»
about their
book because they are loathe to address and fix the real problems (the
book itself may not be very good, or their
cover or website is ugly, or the
book doesn't have any reviews).
With my guidance, you can quickly learn to make your own
cover in MS
Word, completely customize one of the templates, and in
about 15 minutes, you'll have a very stylish, high quality, totally unique
book cover.

If they wrote a great
book with a great
cover and a great active blurb, and get it out there, readers will slowly find it and if the
book is worth talking
about, the readers will start passing the
word and the
book will gain speed in sales.
The role of design is to help translate the heart, tone, and essence of the writing into a visual metaphor that hooks a potential reader and gets them to come closer, to read the
cover copy, to learn more
about the author, to take the
book seriously, to get excited
about what's inside, to preview the first few pages, and then let the
words of the
book take them away.

The author bio on the back

cover a lot of ground in a few
words: publishing credits, writing degrees earned, perhaps something fun
about yourself.
These are just guidelines, but for the typical 6 x 9

One other friend of mine left he was in the real estate space wrote a
book with with a major publishing house and then a few years later stopped he left real estate and went into a really strong personal development business and the publisher went up well you're not promoting this
book anymore and they took his
book word - for -
word and put somebody else's name on the
cover of it and just put a new introduction on it no credit to anybody he had worked because he had two co-authors help him with it because he's dyslexic so they essentially were the ones that wrote it and he provided a lot of the content and the publisher gave those other authors no credit took his name off and put somebody else's name on the front and then the publisher was 100 % within their rights to do it so you know there's a lot of things that I challenge people to kind of think
about what's important and if you're putting all your expertise into this
book you want to make sure that somebody's negotiated a heck out of it giving you a contract that actually makes sense for you and your business.
For
book covers, for example, a professional bio writer will know that the limit for such a short bio is
about 50
words.
This gives you valuable feedback on the
cover and also helps you start spreading the
word about your
book before you launch it!
So, you must continue to produce content, make that content excellent with the help of an editor, give your
words a beautiful
cover so as to give it a fighting change in the world, tell folks
about that
book through various methods of marketing and promotion, and then write the next
book.
