We had 12 Service and
Working Animals from various organizations join us with their handlers and representatives to meet and mingle during the reception.
These include not only day to day care of the dog but the maintenance and future training of a highly
skilled working animal.
Your donation ensures that we can continue to provide veterinary care, education and support for not
only working animals but the communities that depend on them as well.
However, the sheer number of
working animals globally means that there are still millions of animals that currently have no form of veterinary treatment available to them.
Our small and dedicated team there were able to provide over 11,000 treatments to
working animals last year.
It offers an intimate view into the lives of these highly
specialized working animals, now sharing the vulnerability of old age as they once pursued a common heroic goal.
We also work with veterinary professionals, policy - makers and researchers worldwide to extend and improve the care available to sick and
injured working animals.
To qualify, pets must be «
active working animals» that were certified by a formal training program or organization, or are currently enrolled in a formal training program.
In fact, before that, dogs were considered
as working animals, and were mostly kept in the backyard.

The work that service, therapy and
working animals do is nothing short of heroic, and this October we're proud to support animals that dedicate their lives to saving and improving the lives of others.
