recipe is based off my my favorite carrot
cake recipe and the actual
recipe that Cara Mangini, owner and founder of Little Eater, shares
in her cookbook titled The Vegetable Butcher — a name she acquired while
working at Eataly.
This two - ingredient marshmallow fondant is easy to
work with, but just keep
in mind this
recipe should not be used for
cakes - it's a little too stiff.
As
in her seminal The
Cake Bible, which won an IACP prize, Beranbaum doesn't just offer
recipes here; she dissects them, explains how they
work, then puts them back together again with a number of variations.

So many of the keto
cake recipes I found called for up to 8 eggs, or for separated eggs (whites are beaten and folded
in) so that wouldn't
work for us.
Some
cake recipes will call for oil — which can
work perfectly
in rich chocolate
cakes or carrot
cakes because the strong flavors mask the taste of the oil.
When it
works best: Dense
cakes and brownies, and
in smaller quantites for lighter
cakes and fluffy things (if the
recipe calls for 3 eggs only use 2 «tofu» eggs»).
I called up my dear fren Kah Hoe for the
recipe, and the
cake was done
in less than 2 hours (shopping, baking, cooling, cutting)... and just
in time for my mom to came back from
work..
I make a lot of muffins, quick breads, coffee
cakes, and cookies, and
in my determination to eat healthier, I am always
working to «rebuild» some of my favorite
recipes to make them healthier.
I had a bit of a false start with this
recipe after I tried a
recipe for baked donuts and they came out looking like mini footballs, but I think the donut
recipe was at fault, because since then I've used this egg replacer powder
in all sorts of
cakes, cookies and brownies and it's
worked well every time.
Quinoa: I haven't tried this
recipe with any other soaked seed or grain, but I suspect that it would
work with anything that cooks
in water like a porridge, like teff as I did
in my flourless quinoa gluten free chocolate
cake.
Having made your lovely lemon yogurt anything
cake yesterday, which is broadly similar
in as much as it's a relatively wet (actually wetter)
cake, but using raspberries, I can see this
recipe as
working very well as a
cake, though probably with sour - ish rather than over-sweet, mushy peaches.
Along came your
recipe, and it
works with soy - oat - nut - «milks» to make a gorgeous deep chocolate sherbet you can serve
in the prettiest dishes and alongside chocolate
cake.
You can actually swap all - purpose flour for the
cake flour
in this
recipe — it does
work — but you can always make your own
cake flour at home for a
cake with a more delicate crumb: Place two tablespoons of cornstarch
in the bottom of a measuring cup.
I'm making it as a teeny tiny 4inch naked
cake (can't go making full - sized
cakes when I'm
in recipe experimentation mode — that would end up negating all my hard
work in the gym!).
Coconut flour does
work incredibly well
in cake and muffin
recipes.
I've added apple for additional moisture and natural sweetness, as well as raisins, because they
work so well
in spice
cake recipes.
This
recipe would also
work nicely
in classic 9 × 13 inch
cake pan, but I have something against baking
in squares and rectangles.
Triple Cocoa Blend
works perfectly
in your grandmother's chocolate
cake recipe calling for natural cocoa; and equally well for the Dutch - process cocoa brownie you just discovered
in a blog.
I enjoy baking with plant - based protein powder
in replacement to regular flour, because it's really easy, fool - proof, and it adds just the right of fluff and texture that you need to make muffin and
cake - style
recipes like this one
work without adding refined flour products.
I adapted this
recipe off of my Soft Sugar Cookie
recipe because I knew that the
recipe would
work successfully... and you know how unlucky I am
in the kitchen sometimes (remember how it took me 14 trials to perfect this Single - Serving Chocolate
Cake?
I've used it
in place of brown rice flour
in other
cake recipes I hope this
works!
I had never heard of shoo - fly pie before this post, but do you think this muffin
recipe would also
work as a
cake cooked
in a springform pan?
Hi Jenny, yes apple sauce / puree can be used to sub for eggs when the eggs simply add moisture or viscosity but
in this
recipe they add binding, holding the
cake together so it wouldn't really
work.
Unrefined coconut oil (which is solid at room temperature) can add the thickness that butter would, and canola oil
works in recipes with liquid sugars (think agave) or solid fats, such as groundnuts or chocolates
in cakes.
I ended up molding the mixture
in a 6» round cheese
cake tin - which
worked great - I followed the condensed milk
recipe from dairyfree.org - mine was also - lets just say my
cake wasn't as pretty as yours.
A springform pan is ideal for this
recipe since it releases
in a snap, but a regular
cake pan will
work, too.
I've actually had several requests for a yellow or white
cake after this
recipe, so that's now
in the
works.
My family really doesn't like traditional honey
cake so I'm always looking for
recipes that
work in apples and honey and this one is perfect!
Although the latter two
work better
in brownie / chocolate
cake recipes because of the colour they give the final dough.
Just wondering if would
work as a
cake instead of cupcake or I should change something
in the
recipe.
Your changes the
recipe seems to have
worked for me, I even made it
in a Bundt
cake pan and it just looks beautiful!

I saved this unto a
recipe program, and made the one with the TABLESPOON, instead of the TSP, scaled by 10 at
work in a kitchen, and thanks to that I have multiple
cakes ruined, wtf??
Cake mixes aren't available
in the country I live, so I was very happy to find this
recipe worked so well.

I personally like to use a blend of quinoa flour, almond flour, and coconut flour to get a lower starch content and higher protein and fiber content
in my baked goods (plus to make sure the
recipe is gluten - free)-- this combo of 3 flours is AMAZING
in banana bread, zucchini bread, or carrot
cake bread or muffins, but will
work with anything if you use your creativity
in baking.
- Instead of coconut oil: ghee (
in cakes) or cocoa butter (for chocolate coating)- Instead of coconut milk / cream: cream, cream cheese, mascarpone or almond / nut milk (very low
in fat so may not
work in all
recipes)- Instead of shredded coconut: almond meal or other nut / seed meal, flaked almonds, etc. - Instead of coconut flour: about double the amount of almond or other nut / seed flour
