One of the best ways to get back
on track financially and
work toward rebuilding your
credit is to
file for bankruptcy.
While your bankruptcy
filing will show
on your
credit report for up to 10 years, you can and should
work to rebuild your
credit score and should start doing so as soon as possible after your bankruptcy.
In the worst cases you can actually apply for a card, then be sent a much worse, totally unsuitable card from its range, thus leaving you with a wasted search
on your
credit file (read more

works).
You can still
file and suspend your own benefits, and earn Delayed Retirement
Credits until age 70, but your spouse, or other family members, can not collect
on your
work record while your benefits are suspended.
It may be more difficult to obtain
credit in the short term but most debtors who

work diligently to pay their remaining debts
on time each month report that their
credit scores improve within a year after
