Communicating science to lay
audiences is an important skill for all scientists because, if called
upon, we all need to be ready to explain our
work or demonstrate the value of public investment in research.
When
audiences and critics use such diverse words to describe one man's
work, you know they are talking about an actor who completely transforms himself into whatever character he is called
upon to play.
However, when he gets the opportunity to weigh his life, his decisions, and his path forward by watching the consequences that a similar experience has
wrought upon two people who he understands, it changes him in a way that the
audience can understand completely.

When I was invited by YAY gallery in Baku to take the solo exhibition TalkCloud, by Mahmoud Bakhshi, to Azerbaijan, I thought it was an interesting opportunity to show the
work in a context where it would have a multitude of historical references, and see how a project that touches
