breed in the
Working Group.
According to a press release, the Puppy Mill Awareness
Group said it conducted its own investigation, revealing that The Family Puppy has
worked with breeders from Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana and Ohio in 2009 and 2010, and that an inspector from the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS) found unacceptable conditions for
breeding dogs at one of the store's breeders.
Where the shelter workers have general knowledge, the rescue
group has specific knowledge of the
breed and is able to
work with that
breed, with expertise in
breed health issues and
breed specific temperament to place the animal in a forever home.
The Leonberger is in the company of the Newfoundland, St. Bernard, and Great Pyrenees in the
Working Class dog
breed group.
The Anatolian shepherd is in the company of the Boxer, Leonberger, and the Alaskan malamute in the
Working Class dog
breed group.
The AKC divides these 170 plus
breeds into seven different
groups (Sporting, Hound,
Working, Terrier, Toy, Herding, and Non-sporting).
The Malamute is in the company of the Boxer, Leonberger, and the Siberian Husky in the

breed specific rescue in Scotland this charity rescue and rehome both pets and

breeds that were
bred for guarding, rescue, or police
work in addition to some of the «sled» dogs like the Siberian Husky and dogs
bred for hauling carts.

work with other Livestock Guardian rescue
groups to help place other Livestock Guardian
breeds into new homes.
Some
groups of dog, the herding and gundog
groups in particular, have been
bred for hundreds of years to
work in close partnership with people.
So you'll have the bichon frise»; a lap dog that was
bred for precious pampering, but is too big to be categorized in the toy
group, the poodle; a versatile
breed that was utilized as a retriever, truffle hunter and then circus performer, and then you have two types of bulldogs;
breeds who were once used for bull baiting, but since this practice has been outlawed, they technically can't be categorized under the
working dog category.
The AKC divides dog

Members of the Hound
Group are also
bred to
work independently.

groups to move dogs in need on to
groups that can help prepare them for their new homes.
Because he is not a purebred dog, the Aki - Poo does not qualify to join the American Kennel Club (AKC) however both parent
breeds are members in good standing; the Akita joined their «
working»
group in 1972 while the Poodle became a member of the «non-sporting»
group almost a century earlier — in 1887.
