While there are good reasons to worry about combining kids and creative
work in the modern world — kids are indeed expensive and bosses demonstrably discriminate against mothers - there's at least good news for creative
moms when it
comes to the last question.
In my head, I saw the bank as an evil entity, having no mercy for a hard -
working, widowed
mom who had
come upon hard times.
What I tried to do was
come up with common characters we face at
work — like the «manterrupter» who interrupts you in a meeting, or the office
mom who ends up taking on the mother lode of menial tasks — as well as some of the internal barriers, like the feeling of being an imposter, and then digging through the research to find out how you can push back against these things.
The only naughty dog story I can think of is my parent's dog who on occasion will get into the kitchen garbage when he's feeling lonely and he likes to leave a piece by the front door so my
mom sees it when she
comes home from
work.
Sometimes my
mom would
come home from
work with 5 different types of Camino chocolate bars (this was always our favourite), and at least 3 would be gone by that night.

When I coach
working moms there are four issues that repeatedly
come up.

working for WIC 2.5 years ago as a peer counselor and have since applied theory to
