If you live in a cold climate like me, this time of year doesn't just mean shopping for holiday attire or holiday gifts... no, this is the time of year where you have to seriously look
at your shoe
wardrobe and find out what is going to
work for snowy treacherous days (much like the one we are having in Michigan today!).
Okay, so there are a ton of good things about being a stay
at home mom (hello, no stuffy
work wardrobe), but there is one truly great thing.
But having
worked at Visual Therapy for three years, and seeing how defining a style and organizing a
wardrobe can bring confidence, I actually believe our
work has very little to do with fashion.
A lot of the items from my
wardrobe have sold out, which means my strategy is
working because I buy with the intention of things lasting
at least two years.
Whether you wear them
at formal occasions, to
work or causal outings, polka dots have proven to be a must - have item in your
wardrobe.
It's very rare that I buy a stand alone outfit these days in fact I don't think I've bought anything that doesn't
work with
at least a quarter of my existing
wardrobe.
My company has just approved casual dress
at work, which is nice because I can really experiment with my
wardrobe, mixing up the extremely casual with my regular office wear.
I'm dying to
work more color into my
wardrobe, but I'm
at a big NYC bank that leans conservative so I've been hesitant.
Handling questions about her
wardrobe just as deftly as questions about our foreign policy, despite only one of those areas being appropriate to have to discuss
at work.
Whether you are starting out your
work wardrobe, need to simplify it or freshen it up, the basics are where it is
at, and no piece is more versatile than a pair of black pants.
Surprisingly for a designer brand, it's very low key and not flashy
at all, which is why I knew it would
work well into my
wardrobe and it would be something that I'd used often enough to justify the price.
Really, I mean that, as a very busy
working mum who has little or no time to shop (unless you count desperate online purchases), you have helped me look
at my existing
wardrobe in a completely different way — my husband and our bank account thank you for that!
Now that i'm in my new role
at work & on a mission to get back into gear health wise, my
work wardrobe is something I want to step up a notch and maintain a little better this year.
It's been a super busy few weeks — in addition to getting back into the swing of things
at work, many of you know I've been ruthlessly cleaning out my
wardrobe.

At first I thought you meant
wardrobe staples, but it was clear that you meant pieces that people buy quickly and impulsively, without really thinking through whether it really

Building a capsule
wardrobe isn't just about minimizing and reducing — though that is the lion's share of
work — it's also about making sure that your
wardrobe suits you, and
at times that can mean building out your
wardrobe in places where it's lacking.
And I'm sure that many of you have the struggle of staring
at your
wardrobe in the morning trying to figure out what kind of outfit you can wear to
work and also wear...
For those of your readers who are retired, or partially so, this may be the bulk of the
wardrobe purchases, and trust me, dressing casually
at ths time of our lives is just as hard to do appropriately as dressing for
work... perhaps harder, as it is so ill defined.
Anyway, I'm not really sweating it because all of the things I got this month are great pieces for my
work wardrobe; considering how much time I spend
at work, it's money well spent.
I really hope that they will be helpful to other women and that the ladies
at Working Wardrobe can use them in their new endeavors.
The dress is a bit sexy already, so if you are going out
at night yes I can see a pair of killer heels but I was going to
work AND I love those guy items incorporated in my
wardrobe sooooo that's the final look!
