Once an artist's
work goes to auction the prices are observable to the public, and anyone (often uttered with disdain) can buy it.

I'd LOVE
to go out and protest the whole system of

work of living artists.
We have been
working with a few Andy Warhol projects over the past month, and we were happy
to see this
go up on Paddle8's

to present this
auction which includes original artwork inspired by Warhol's
work created by ten renowned artists (all artists who have been in Juxtapoz over the past year or two as well).
Perhaps Hammons did
go with the buck: In 2013, a record price of $ 8 million for his
work, the highest for any living black artist, was set at Phillips New York when he consigned an untitled basketball backboard chandelier
to the
auction house directly.
This quartet of expert prints, which seemingly scatters the letters of lifted sentences at random
to form compositions that are sapped of the ability
to communicate, is an elegant example of his trademark
work, which in 2011 received a major survey at the Whitney Museum — and which has routinely sold for staggering multiples of its estimates at
auction,
going into the millions.

Blazingly colourful prints by the late Howard Hodgkin, some combining layers of different printing techniques and hand - colouring

If your pockets are deep, or even if your pockets have holes in, an
auction house is an interesting place
to visit in the run - up
to a sale, when
works go on show for a few days before they change hands.
The spectacular art collection quietly assembled by David Bowie — including
works by Damien Hirst and Henry Moore — is
to go on display for the first time before being
auctioned.
Works from the collection of Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt sell for $ 88.6 m at a New York

to another.
Works like Roy Lichtenstein's Brushstroke (1965) and Damien Hirst's Adenylosuccinate Lyase (1992) are considered

Pride of place
went to The semi-abstract painting Nude, Green Leaves and Bust (1932) by Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973), which was hammered down for $ 106.5 million, making it the world's most expensive

works represents a colossal asset.
A bunch of artists we know or like have
work up for
auction for the new MTV RE: DEFINE 2014 benefit at Dallas Contemporary, but you needn't
go deep in the heart of Texas
to snag a piece (but there's also a fancy gala on 4/4 in case you are in Texas).
I volunteered at my children's school and was the treasurer for the parent club for 6 years — mind you that «job»
went from taking over a handwritten note that told me that the club
works with a $ 250 budget
to getting everything set up for a non-profit QuickBook account after we made over $ 80,000.00 in a wine
auction and so on....
I thought about looking into
auctions before but thought at the time the risks are higher with the buyer having
to really do their title
work and lien searches carefully ahead of time since you are not
going to get a title insurance.
I'm convinced I'm
going to have
to find ways
to go off market,
auctions etc.... the traditional realtor and MLS seems near impossible
to get a deal where the $ $
works now...
These days,
auction houses are
working to keep that momentum
going by...
Yes, it
works with any type of real estate that
goes to county tax deed
auction, this includes timeshares.
Have only been
to work one day this week, and on Wednesday I
went to Oxford for the day, met my friend and
went to an
Auction house for the day!
